Giving Parents a Voice For Our Schools and Our Children's Future!

As your school board member I have been committed to ensuring every student has access to an exceptional education in a safe, supportive learning environment. I have fought to give parents a voice, put students first, and make decisions based on what is best for all of our kids.
As your school board member I have been committed to ensuring every student in Las Virgenes has access to an exceptional education in a safe, supportive learning environment. Together, we've raised academic achievement, expanded student mental health resources, strengthened campus safety, implemented California's strongest bell-to-bell cellphone policy, established some of the state's toughest e-bike safety standards, and are now leading the effort to restore balance in our classrooms by reducing unnecessary screen time. Throughout it all, I have fought to give parents a voice, put students first, and make decisions based on what is best for kids—not politics.
Our responsibility is to help every child thrive, academically, socially, and emotionally. Those goals aren't separate. Students learn best when they're engaged in the classroom, connected to their peers, and supported by caring adults.
That's why I supported the effort to implement California's strongest bell-to-bell cellphone policy. It wasn't an easy decision, and it faced vocal opposition. But leadership means doing what's right for students, not what's politically convenient.
Today, we're seeing the results. Attendance is up. Enrollment is growing. Bullying is down. Student engagement is stronger, and academic performance continues to improve. At the same time, we've made historic investments in school counselors and expanded mental health resources to ensure every student has the support they need to succeed.
Now, I'm helping to lead the next important conversation: making sure technology is used the right way in our classrooms. Technology should be a powerful tool that supports great teaching - not replaces it. By focusing on teacher-led instruction and using technology intentionally, we can strengthen both academic achievement and student well-being.
I'll continue to stand up for policies that put students first, even when they're difficult, because our children deserve leaders who have the courage to do what's right.
As the father of three children in Las Virgenes schools, this isn't an abstract policy issue for me, it's personal. My own children walk into these classrooms every day, and I want them to receive the same world-class education every parent expects for their child.
That's why I've remained relentlessly focused on our District's core mission: academic excellence.
I helped lead the effort to create a Board committee dedicated to student achievement, using performance data to better understand where our students were succeeding, where they were falling behind, and how we could improve. When it became clear we were facing a long-term decline in math achievement, I pushed for a new approach to math instruction. That work is already producing results, with significant gains in student math performance this past year.
We have so much to be proud of in Las Virgenes. Our schools are among the best in California, thanks to our exceptional teachers, dedicated staff, and engaged families. But excellence isn't a destination- it's a commitment to continuous improvement. We should never be satisfied when there's an opportunity to help even one more student succeed.
My commitment is simple: I will continue asking hard questions, demanding measurable results, and supporting proven strategies that prepare every student for success in college, careers, and life.
